cosleeping with a newborn

Any advice?  WIth DS we had him in a bassinet and then started cosleeping with him around 3 months, so he was a bit older.  We had one of those snooglie (can't remember what is called) for a little while, but I didn't like it much..so eventually he was just in bed with us.

This time around we plan to just start co sleeping right away.  Any suggestions?  Should we get the arms reach cosleeper?  Now that I know what I know..cosleeping makes the night nursing SO much easier, so just plan to simplifiy life as much as possible right away!

Re: cosleeping with a newborn

  • I have the arms reach clear vue co sleeper (it was so much cheaper and smaller than all of the other kinds I saw) and it has made life so much easier. I didn't have it for the first 5 weeks of his life which I regret (note to self for baby #2). I plan on keeping him in there for as long as possible. Sometimes we bed share but I can just put him right back in the co sleeper if I need/want to.

  • We used our Chicco play yard with the bassinet next to our bed and it was very comfortable. It was a very practical purchase because now we use it all the time when we visit family or travel. But we use it with the MamaDoo Kids foldable mattress topper for much needed extra comfort (the hard-board "mattress" in the play yard was not comfortable enough for our DS). Good luck!
