Cold Sore-Help!!!

I'm a little over 16 weeks pregnant and a cold sore just popped up on my lip today :( I also have one in my nose (which I've never had) but I'm not as concerned about that one since you can't see it. My face is also breaking out like crazy so a cold sore is the LAST thing I want to see. Has anyone else gotten one while pregnant? What did you do? I've been putting Abreva on all day and it seems to be getting worse....

I use an ice cube wrapped in a napkin. It's very cold but you have to keep it on there until it melts, takes the swelling away. I also use alcohol on a q tip to dry it up. I have a Rx for valtrex but haven't had to use it, plus once you have one it's really no good except for maybe shortening it.

Ask your doctor to prescribe you something topical for it - I've gotten them in the corners of my mouth, as well as in my nose - I actually have one popping up today in my nose and it hurts like hell. Whatever my Dr. gave me (it's in a small green and white tube) helps it go away before it gets nasty looking. He also has me taking an extra zinc supplement, which has really helped.

I'll usually pop a valtrex when I feel one coming on and then I'll put abreva on it like every 30 minutes for a day.  It will literally go away in 2-3 days and never be extremely noticeable.  It took me about 10 years to get a good combo down to get them to go away fast LOL.  I got one like every other week the first 2 months I was pg.  Valtrex is a B category drug FYI.  My dermatologist had no issue giving it to me pg.
