Follistim Question

Hello Ladies - Happy Friday!!!

I have a question that I hope some of you can help me with. I start Follistim tomorrow evening. Right now, and for the last year, my Follistim has been in the crisper drawer in my refrigerator. It was a generous donation. I know Follistim needs to be refrigerated long term but not short-term.

Did you keep it in the refrigerator while stimming or at room temperature? Should I take it out tonight and let it warm up to room temperature and then keep it out while on stims? Or should it be injected cold?

I am pretty sure it doesn't matter and either way is fine, but I wanted to know what YOU did with yours.

I am on day 10 of Follistim.

I am keeping in the drawer in the fridge. I was told to only take out as you are about to use and there is no issues (pain etc) injecting it cold me for.

GL! It is an easy one to inject and the pen makes is so much easier than mixing meds like menopur.

Once it is loaded into the pen I keep it at room temperature.  I actually kept it in my purse in case I was out and about at inject time.  It was really convenient.

My Gonal-F (same stuff) doesn't hurt even though I inject it cold.

I kept mine at room temp (pen) once I started stimmimg. Other than that it sat in the fridge!

This.. My much prefer room temp injects and my nurse suggested this.

I've done it both ways. Initially I kept putting it back in the fridge but then by IVF#2, I said, why am I putting it back in?  I always took it out of the fridge for an hour or so before injecting to "warm" up so now I just leave it out when cycling.

I took it out of the fridge about 30 minutes prior to injecting it.... it really didn't take that long to bring it to room temperature.  After I loaded it in the pen, I would just put the pen back in the drawer I kept the rest of my drugs and drug accessories!

just an fyi in case you didn't know they do put extra in the vials... I got about 425 out of a 300 iu vial. 

It's easy, you'll do fine!

I take mine right out of the fridge and take it.

I always kept mine in the fridge, except for the few minutes it took to do the shot each night.  I never had any issues with Follistim stinging or anything.

i wanna say directions say take it out of fridge about 15 minutes or so before you do injection to let it reach room temp..  i was always overly cautious so kept it in fridge the rest of the time... so dang expensive!

Thanks for all the advice. 

It's funny, I have an event tomorrow at lunch time and then I am going to some friend's house afterwards. I might not be home before I have to inject so I need to take it with me when I leave in the morning. This is what sparked my curiosity on what to do with it.

I think I will load it in the pen in the morning before I leave and keep it at room temperature until it's empty. It's a 900 cartridge so it will last the first 4 days of my stims.
