Hi Ladies!
My husband and I are TTC. I recently had a laparoscopy to repair my ovary that was attached to my pelvic wall as well as remove some scar tissue. This is our first month TTC with the OPK and progesterone.
On sunday (4/1) I have to start my OPK. Then start my progesterone suppositories 48 hours after my surge. (as I'm sure those of you who have used it already know.) I was just wondering if you have any tips for the OPK or Progesterone suppositories. I am still new to all of this a little overwhelmed and nervous.
Thanks in advance!!
J
Re: Newly TTC using OPK and Progesterone
If you were temping orally, try temping vaginally - it can help with consistency. Were you temping at the same time each morning, before waking up?
I'm not saying your doctor is wrong.. but it is possible to have a positive OPK and not ovulate. Progesterone can inhibit ovulation so if you had a positive OPK, didn't ovulate, but started taking progesterone - you may not ovulate that cycle because you started the progesterone before.
I was taking my temps orally at the same time every morning. I will try vaginally. Maybe I'll have more luck.
Oh... I'm so confused! I wonder why he told me to start the progesterone after 48 hours then? They never mentioned anything to me about checking my temps and you think that they would have if it will help determine whether or not I ovulated. That's a bit frustrating. :-/
Your doctor wasn't "wrong." Most of the time we do ovulate after a positive OPK. But sometimes we don't. Temping will just help you confirm that you've ovulated before you start taking the progesterone. This ensures you don't waste a month of your TTC journey.

No - still start temping. Any data you gather is helpful in terms of looking at current cycles (and sometimes comparing them to future cycles).
No, use fertilityfriend. It's very easy and they have "how to" videos.

Yes, Rocky Temps post ovation are indicative of low progesterone. Also try vaginal temping to make sure its not your temping style. You should see them more consistent once you start the supplements. good luck.

Usually Fertility Friend will give you a 30 minute window from your usual temping time. However, if you can't temp within that 30 minute window, it will give you an open circle. I *think* that the open circle means the temperature is considered, but not as strongly as closed circle temps. I always have lots of open circles but am still able to see a temp shift to confirm ovulation.
