Clothes shopping for yourself (NBR)

I am in a total clothing rut!  When I get dressed in the morning, I am never really excited about my choices.  I think if I enjoyed my clothing more I'd feel better about myself and have more confidence.  I usually shop at Kohls and...well, that's about it.  Sometimes I'll pick up something at Target or JCPenney, but I know I'm missing something somewhere else.  I'd really like to pick up some of the neon coming out this season, but I know it needs to be done tastefully, so maybe a new spot would help.  So, my question is where do shop for your clothes?

Re: Clothes shopping for yourself (NBR)

  • I recently found a few cute items at Forever 21...yes it's on the younger side, but I found some appropriate tops for myself.

I also love Marshalls, TJ Maxx, etc

  • I tend to shop at Kohl's and Target a lot.  I've been picking up more at ON lately too, now that I am there a lot getting stuff for Ty.  There is always Gap, which I like, but I refuse to shop there for myself after an incident about 5 years ago that pissed me off with their sizing!  It's a principle thing!

I do love Limited, Loft, Banana and JCrew, but my wallet doesn't as much!

I am totally craving a pair of bright jeans, but I can't decide what color I want.  That'll probably determine where I'll start looking!  I'm planing on wearing them with Toms mainly.  I have Navy Tom's and am picking up Charcoal soon, so I may get red.  Plus, good for Cardinal's games!!

  • I typically buy most of my work clothes at NY & Company, but it can really be hit or miss - I ordered a bunch of stuff online a few months ago and loved it all.  A few weeks ago, I did another order online and it is all going back as the sizes were all too big and or the style was just wrong.

  • I hate to shop. Most of my clothes come from Ann Taylor or Gap (not including the random novelty tee).  Most days i look like a bad gap ad.  I tend to stick to those stores because the racks are spread out and outfits are already put together.  I used to shop at JCrew but then my hips got wider?ugh.

  • My cousin works at antnropologie, so I've been shopping there due to her discount.

I know what you mean there. I used to have their store credit card because of the discount at the beginning of the month.... But there was one year where I hated everything style wise and it seemed their sizes were inconsistent so I canceled it and stopped shopping there.

Lately I've been shopping at Old Navy, Kohl's, Macy's (They have a brand I really like called INC - but I have to shop sales racks because it's expensive!), and Dillards.

I used to shop at Fashion Bug a lot, but not so much anymore. I like some of the business casual stuff at Dress Barn.....but I don't like the price...

  • I love the LOFT and Banana Republic,  but we don't have either. I don't like buying clothes online, so it saves us money. Today is the first time in over a year I bought something for myself to wear. I got a $14 t-shirt on sale at Express. I also bought $2.5 underwear at VS with a coupon. I'm a big spender! I used to buy clothes all the time when I worked but now that I'm a SAHM I try not to spend on myself. I do agree that nice clothes can give you confidence.

  • I bought a ton at Loft recently.  The stuff there goes on sale after like 2 weeks so you can find stuff at good prices that is still springy and bright. :)
  • Thanks Ladies for your help!  Hopefully soon I'll have a free day I can go shopping and check out some of your suggestions.
  • I second the INC brand at Macy's. They have cute stuff and everything goes on sale or you can use coupons. I also like Loft and The Limited seems to have nice work clothing, I get their emails and they seem to have sales fairly often.

  • Forever 21, Target, Old Navy, Dillards, Macys, Wet Seal, Shasa, Victoria Secret, Burlington, Marshalls.

I tend to buy more trendy type stuff that go out of style within a year or two so some of those listed above that arent the best quality are just fine because I'm done with them before they wear out.

  • My favorite store for myself is The Loft, but only when I either have a coupon or find a good sale. I also really like the Banana Republic outlet store, but I haven't been since DD was born. It's 45 minutes away and she doesn't really let me shop anymore.

  • I've been slowly re-vamping my closet the last couple of months, due to size ups/downs, wear-n-tear on old clothes, and just needing stuff that is more "appropriate", for lack of a better word. I LOVE The Loft, Banana Republic, Target, and I find stuff at Forever 21 a lot. I'm loving their stuff this spring/summer. Trying not to go too crazy, though. We're moving to a new climate soon, annnddd I'm about to start doing Insanity, so my pants size is (hopefully!) going to go down again. =D
