Re: interesting article

  • MH would do anything for a tootsie roll. Is it sad that's my first reaction to the article? ha ha

Anyway, this article showed some good examples of parents being bad role models. I believe in being an involved parent, but also in looking at your long terms parenting goals. I want to teach LO to play fairly and to deal with disappointment in a healthy and respectful way. I want LO to feel she is loved and appreciated and that her best is good enough.

I work in a family planning clinic, and it drives me crazy when we get teenage patients who can't fill out a simple form by themselves. These girls are 16 or 17 and sometimes their parents are there with them, filling in the girl's name and address, etc. Seriously, someone that age should be able to handle simple tasks.

  • I do like her idea of how to handle the birthday gift craze. However, we've never dealt with kids crowding the birthday cake. We've always cut it and passed it out without incident. Thank God!
