I just attended my sons 9 month visit and expressed an interest in him getting the MMR vaccine split. I am from England and this is a pretty comon request there. Healthpartners clinics do not offer the vaccine split. I called the Minnesota Department of Health and they told me that no where in Minnesota do they offer the vaccine split. I've left a message with the Wisconsin Department of Health to see if they know of any where (I can drive to WI). Is there anyone else out there who has researched this? Any successes? I'm really not wanting to do the whole MMR debate, I just want him to be vaccinated on a modified MMR schedule.
Thanks!

You are welcome. A lady at my church was able to do it a few yrs ago (and sent me the info) and that info is old so I am not sure it is still possible but it is worth a try.
Why? I have never heard of this before and am curious.
Well, there was research (which has now been disproved) that the MMR vaccine could contribute to the high numbers of children being diagnosed with Autism. My sister has 3 boys, two of whom are on the Autistic spectrum, and I just don't want to chance it. I remember my eldest nephew being as bubbly and chatty as my son, and it freaks me out! Just a personal decision I guess.
Key word.
And in the spirit of not debating, I work with students with autism for a living, for 11 years now, and DS isn't receiving seperate vaccines That said, I know people who prefer to split them up because they feel it is too much to be giving a little body all at once regardless of no scientific links to ASDs. Like anything else, do what your research makes you most comfortable with.
