Hey all- I'm new to this board, but have been on TTCAL...I figured you all would be able to help me with my question.
My husband and I had been trying for a year and a half, and had 2 miscarriages in that time. We started some testing at the end of last year, and so far have found out a few things. 1.) I don't ovulate regularly, so we're still trying to figure out what dose of clomid will help me get my hormone levels up and ovulate; and 2.) I have a genetic clotting disorder (what!?) that has caused the miscarriages. While we are almost done with testing, once I find the dose of clomid that bumps up my hormones to normal (last testing cycle estrogen was good and I ovulated 2 mature follicles, but progesterone was still very low) my doc wants to do an endometrial biopsy.
There is not much information out there on endometrial biopsies, and what info is printed seems very different from a few people that have actually gone through it. While I know that pain is subjective, can you please tell me what your experience was like?? Was there anything you did before/during to decrease the pain? Most people say 800 mg ibuprofin 1 hr prior, but this sounds so "wimpy" of a med to me! I had an HSN scan done about 2 months ago and was not warned of the pain I would feel. Besides horrible cramping, I felt like someone had a vice grip on my left ovary which took my breath away!
Just looking for more info from people who have actually gone through it. Thanks so much!
Re: Endometrial biopsy
It's a bit of cramping but not bad, but I have a high pain threshold. Similar to an SHG/SIS but not as bad as a HSG. I hope you're seeing an RE not an OB/GYN for fertility treatments. GL.
I've had 3-4 biopsies for abnormal pap/cyro and coculture, 2 SHGs, and 1 HSG.
I had it done-and I won't lie-it sucked, big time, worse than the HSG and SIS for me. However, I wasn't expecting to have it done so I hadn't taken any pain relievers. Regardless of the pain, its a relatively quick procedure.
When I went to my second opinion RE he wanted to do a biopsy and was going to give me suppository that would help numb the area a bit-maybe mention that to your doctor to see if that's an option-I imagine it would help.
