Bleeding after D&C

I had a D&C this past Thursday after discovering a missed miscarriage at 13 weeks(baby no longer had a hb and was measuring 8 wks) when I went in for my NT scan.  I it took nearly a week for my Dr. Office to fit me in, so I was almost 14 weeks at the time of my D&c.

I bled fairly heavily right after the procedure, but it drastically slowed by that evening I''ve  just barely been spotting for the past 3 days.  Tonight my bleeding has started again and cramping has worsened.  The bleeding's not heavy, but I just was unsure if it was normal for it to restart after it had essentially stopped.  

I'll  call my Dr. In the morning and will call tonight if the bleeding worsens, but was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I'm sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience after my second d&c where the bleeding stopped and then started again. My doctor told me that if the bleeding was severe (i.e., more than a pad an hour) or the cramps were really bad, to come in. In the mean time, take it easy and take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This is what happened to me also.  I bled the day of the procedure then nothing until about 3 days later with cramping. I bled heavily for about 2-3 days then spotted for about 3 days after that.

Thanks everyone for your kind and reassuring words.  While I'm sorry that you've had similar situations, I appreciate the reassurance that what I'm experiencing is normal.  I called my OB's office today just to check and they too said it was normal for the bleeding to stop and restart.  Thanks again for your help!

Sounds normal.

I was 14w2d when I had my D&C.  I barely spotted for 3 days, bled super heavy for a few days, then it seemed to stop, then it started back up again.

My Dr basically said with how far along I was (and you as well) there is a lot of lining to shed and it takes time.  He said it was normal to spot/bleed for many weeks, possibly even until my cycle returned.
