1st Trimester

Due date confusion?!?!

We had the first u/s today. Yeah, it went great. However My Doc basically gave me three EDD and said they were all with in the same week so it did not really mater. He was pretty whatever about the whole thing.

So LMP = 11/7/12 I charted and IMO had a clear O date = 11/8/11 The ultrasound had us at 11/11/12.

Again they are within days of one another, so in the grand scheme it really does not matter. But at the same time, I would like to have a specific date in mid and an accurate ticker.

So WWYD?

Re: Due date confusion?!?!

  • My ob gave me my date based on lmp, but I know I ovulated late due to charting. So he then gave me a week window. Babies are rarely born on their due dates anyway. For my ticker I went with the later date to put me due nov 6th and not oct 27th.

Wait I lied. I changed the ticker tothe early dat ( ugh pregnancy brain) but I still consider myself a nov 2012 mommy!

  • It's an estimated due date. Baby is going to come when he/she is ready. My doc doesn't change an edd unless it's off by over a week. There may be some cases when they may want a more accurate date, such as with my son, because he was a scheduled c-section and they wanted to make sure we gave him enough time for lungs to mature before I gave him the boot, but for a normal, healthy pregnancy, it's not necessary, you'll go into labor when it's time, whether on your edd or not.

  • Same thing happened with me last pregnancy. I had a LMP DD, a conception DD (b/c I knew the date), and a DD for baby's measurement. My doc was "whatever" about it either so we just picked the middle one.

  • My estimated from LMP is Nov 20, but I'm going from my O date and keeping it Nov. 18th because I charted and know I O'd CD 12 not 14. I KNOW that's silly, but to tell you the truth, this early, I cheer every day I know the baby is progressing normally, so I'm going to "keep" my extra days for now. I'd go with whatever date you want, because the reality is, LO will arrive when LO wants :)
Sept 2013 started TTC#2 (never got PP period so hoping for the first egg to drop)
Jan 2014 - diagnosed POF (Premature Ovarian Failure) and told pregnancy not possible without egg donor because my ovaries would never function again with my hormone levels (FSH 136, LH 98.6, AMH <.03, estradiol 0, HCG 7) - using acupuncture, chiropractic care and TCM herbs / supplements

  • I'm in a similar situation. LMP puts me at 11/9, I charted and O'd at CD21, which puts me at 11/15. I measured 6w6d yesterday moving me up to 11/14. My doc basically said all these dates are within a week of each other so it really doesn't matter. So provided everything continues to progess I should have a baby second week of Nov. But really anything between 37 and 42 weeks is considered term. A wide window considering we all want to pin down a date.
