I may regret this, but so far it seems that weaning Ty off of his mid-of-night feeding has worked. Two weeks ago pedi said Ty didn't need to eat in the middle of the night anymore since he's shown he can STTN and he needs to eat more in the day if he wanted the extra feeding. So, I didn't want to cold turkey drop the feeding. I would reduce an ounce of his bottle every few days, and once we got down to 3-oz. he wasn't satisfied, but still put himself to bed after crying about 3-5 minutes. He hasn't needed a mid-of-night bottle since Thursday!!! He still wakes once a night but falls back down before 5 minutes of crying. HOwever, last night he woke at 3:00 thinking it was play time. We heard him just babbling to himself for about 10-15 minutes before falling back asleep.
So anyway, I think it's been a success! I wish I could say I was better rested, but I haven't been due to stupid allergies keeping me up anyway
ETA: And, I should add that this is while cutting a tooth too! I noticed on Saturday that his second tooth is starting to come through. It's impossible to get a good look, but this morning I was pretty confident that it's cut!
Re: Possible success - giving up mid-night feeding
My BFF nurses her LO and she's thinking about cutting out the night feeding as well so if she has success with this I'll let the nursing moms know how she did it! I believe her plan though was to pump before she goes to bed so she's not so completely full in the morning.
