Re: When did you give your baby bread?

  • 8 months? Maybe earlier? I've done all sorts. Waffles, bagels, biscuits, english muffins...

  • I think maybe 7 months. I gave him whole wheat bread. Now he has had all kinds- biscuits, tortillas, pizza crusts. He loves it.
  • We gave him a yeast bread at 6 months (Thanksgiving rolls :)).  He's had muffins, pancakes, toast, crackers, and his favorite buscuits!  He had a bite of my pb&j sandwich today!

  • I gave him a pizza crust at 8 months. I didn't really plan it, we were just at a pizza place and he was interested. He loved it! He's loved gnawing on all the bread I've given him since, except yesterday he did not care for flatbread. Weird.

  • He hasn't had much, but I've given rolls a few times, if we've been out and he seems to want a snack.  We were at a very casual wedding on Saturday and I wanted to give him something.  They had burgers and brats, so I'd tear off small chunks of a hamburger bun for him to snack on, and a slice of cheese!  The funniest thing - he kept sticking the cheese to the roof of his mouth and we didn't know it.  There was like 4 little chunks up there by the time we caught on.
  • Just this past week. She's loving it. We're so behind. DD isn't really happy with baby food anymore. She wants the real stuff.

  • I gave DD wheat toast with some mango puree on it last weekend. She promptly gave it to the dog :P

She has tried pita when we were out to eat, and I gave her a tiny taste of french toast at a restaurant as well.

I want to try waffles/pancakes, but the mix I have right now has honey in it. Once that is gone (or I make my own from scratch) I'll let her have some of that.

  • Around 8 months I think. I gave him chunks of our bread heels- we eat whole wheat. Now he's also had some bagel

  • Around 6-7 months - we were at Panera and she was restless so I gave her some whole grain baguette. She loved it. We've been giving her bread with a tough crust or whole wheat toast ever since. It's one of her favorite foods. Too bad it makes her constipated.

  • I think around 7 months but we didn't (and still don't) give him a lot at all.  The most he had was a grilled cheese sandwich yesterday and I felt terribly guilty giving him that.  I feel like it wasn't healthy enough and that he should have had chicken or fish for dinner.

  • Just this past week.  We gave DS whole wheat bread.  We want to try pancakes soon.  Was thinking maybe making whole wheat from scratch.
