Cloth Diapering

Do you use dryer balls?

If so, what kind?  Do they really help cut down on dry time and fluff everything nicely?  I got some from Bed, Bath, and Beyond (they're plastic.  They were cheap so I thought, why not?) and I feel like they don't really do anything : (

Thoughts?

Re: Do you use dryer balls?

  • my wool ones are good.  I think they cut the drying time down by at least 20% but it is AWESOME for regular clothing, I haven't had to use an iron in months

  • Etsy!  I use 8 in my dryer for all my drying.  They just live there.  They work just fine for me for fluffing and etc but not for reducing the drying time.  My clothes still seem to take 60 minutes on medium to dry.  Maybe they would reduce the time if I dried on high but I don't want melted clothes.  Big Smile

ETA: Oh, and I agree with PP, definitely go for the wool dryer balls.  Those plastic things are junk.

  • They definately cut down on drying time for us.  We use 6 wool ones.  My diapers get dried on low for 80 minutes and are not at all damp when the cycle is done.

  • i made some, its really easy. Just google how to make dryer balls. You need 100% wool yarn but its very simple. I find it helps some, but I have heard many say they just throw a large dry towel in their dryer and it does the same.

  • Mine are from BB&B too - pink and purple?  I haven't noticed a difference in drying time, but if I don't use them, everything comes out stuck together and snapping with static!

  • I use tennis balls, they work the same as the dryer balls in the store.
