Dryer Balls?

I bought some from Bed, Bath, and Beyond because I was there for something else and just so happened to walk by them and have been meaning to try them for a while.  Unfortunately, I don't feel as though they've shortened drying time like they should  : (  They're plastic (boo) with little spikes, a little smaller than a tennis ball.  I got 4 of them and have left them in the dryer.  I've done a couple loads of diapers and a couple loads of clothes and I have not noticed any difference versus using nothing in the dryer.

 Do these just stink or are dryer balls not all they're cracked up to be? : /

I use the Budda Bunz wool dryer balls.  I have 10 of them in the dryer.  I think that they help.  I also have re usable static eliminators as well but I think it is time to replace them.

I also have wool dryer balls and they definitely shortened the drying time with our cloth diapers. It sounds like the ones you got are duds.

I use to use the plastic ones about 5 years ago and I thought that they did cut down drying time, maybe about 5-7 mins worth.  I use the wool dryer balls now and I love them!  I use 6 but have been looking to get 2 more and I think they cut down on the drying time for sure and are great with the cloth diapers!

Oh! I thought drier balls were to replace drier sheets/fabric softener. Am I totally incorrect here?

I only have 2 of the wool balls and haven't noticed a difference at all.  Maybe I don't have enough of them..??

They're supposed to do that too ; )  I feel like our fabrics feel about the same as they did using 1/2 an eco-friendly dryer sheet so no change there, I was just hoping for shorter dry time too because they're supposed to be good for both!  : )

Yeah 2 won't do much of anything.  I started with 4 and it was okay but I had a much better result when I moved to 6.  I've heard that 8 is the magic number though!

I have 3 plastic and 3 wool. The more I use the greater difference I see. I haven't noticed any improvement in static, but I can now dry a full load (jeans, towels) on low and everything is dry. I preferred to reduce the heat rather than the drying time, but I think I could do hot for a short cycle and be fine. 

I would get some more and see if you like them. If nothing else they make great dog toys. I'm always chasing after them...
