Hi all. Since this is my first, I am learning about all kinds of new things, like this doppler for example. I am debating on whether to purchase or not. Can anyone pelase give me the positive/negative about these? Also, when is the earliest you can hear it on a home Doppler? Thanks

I have 2 friends who are OB/Gyns and both strongly advised me against it. They both said it's a great way to drive yourself nuts, get potentially inaccurate information, etc. They also reminded me that in a few weeks you'll start to feel the baby kick and that's a free way of knowing the baby is ok.
Do what you want, of course, but I have felt a bit "pressured" after reading a lot of comments on here and as it turns out none of my real life friends have done it!
Just another view- either way I am sure it's fine. I think of it as a neat toy, more or less but I know I'd literally go crazy with it. For me I'd rather leave it to the experts.
THIS! It's a waste of money and will drive you crazy!
I personally bought a doppler after my miscarriage. It was a nice way to get reassurance. You have to be able to not freak out though if you can't find it immediately. A lot of women can't find it until they are 11-13 weeks. Its a nice transitional way of being able to check before feeling the baby move.
I disagree with other posters as well. It never drove me crazy, but I also didn't do it excessively.

I had a doppler with my DD and loved it! I had an early miscarriage before I became pregnant with DD and because of the miscarriageI was so nervous about the pregnancy until I could feel the baby move.
I didn't think it was difficult to find the baby's HB after about 11 or 12 weeks and as a FTM it was so exciting! I'm excited to use it again with our next LO!

I loved my doppler. I was able to hear the heartbeat every day starting at 9 weeks. It was definitely not a waste of money, in fact I'd say it was the best pregnancy product I bought. It really gave me peace of mind. You'll notice that the nay-sayers are ones who don't own a doppler.
I'm joking. But seriously, I think it's a great product.
My friend is sending me her doppler in the mail next week and she had all positive things to say about it. They loved hearing baby's heartbeat! I think she said they could hear it well after 12 weeks:)
