Should be fine for diapers. I keep meaning to make my own, but I haven't got to it yet.

They work great for us.

They worked great for a while but our hard water is just too tough for them for extended use.  I'd say I got a good 5 months out of them and will go back to using them after I've stripped and gotten over the yuck that was building up in the diapers (minerals, mostly).

I do use a scoop of EFF deterget (washing soda, borax, oxiclean) with my soap nuts; I think it helps them work in my hard water. I use less EFF than I did when I tried to use that on it's own - just enough to help soften the water a bit.
