9 month sleep regression?

The past few nights DS has been waking up at 230 and doesn't want to go back to sleep. The first night he did this I tried to get him back down for an hour and then finally gave up we got up and played. Then he went back down at 5 when I gave him a bottle. Is this a normal 9 month thing or does my baby just love me too much to let me sleep? Ha!

Re: 9 month sleep regression?

  • Lily is usually an amazing sleeper but for the last 2 weeks it's been a pain to get her to go to sleep and then she ends up waking up at midnight.

We noticed this issue around 9 months, which was also about the same time she was learning to crawl.  I think it was partly due to the fact that her little brain was in overdrive from learning to crawl and she had trouble staying asleep.  Many nights we would find her on the other end of the crib in the crawling position and she wasn't able to figure out how to "get down" and settle herself back down.  She has been okay for the past two weeks, but now I think more teeth are coming in so she wakes up screaming and can't calm back down.

  • We were just going through a growth spurt last week. O would wake up at 130 screaming. NOTHING was working! I figured it was teething since at her 8 month appt the Dr said she was teething. I gave her Tylenol and nothing. So I tried changing her and cuddling her and even brought her into my bed. Still not working. Finally I gave in and gave her a bottle. That was the only thing that worked and now a week later she is back to sleeping (almost) through the night.

  • Martin's been going through this too lately. He's waking at least once a night, screaming, and the only thing that works for getting him back to bed is to feed him. I know he can't really be hungry, because he's eating the same or more during the day. I'm thinking he's either teething, waking up in an uncomfortable position and therefore starving, or waking up due to another environmental factor (i.e. cold, hot, etc). I hope he gets back to his old STTN self though because I'm tired as shiit. lol

  • I was beginning to wonder if my baby was broken.  He has been waking in the middle of the night for 4 days and I wasn't sure what the problem was.  He would scream for a good 1 hour then finallly go back to sleep.  It didn't even dawn on me that it could be a growth spurt.
