Clothes Size

I know everyone's babies are different sizes, but I just want to get an idea of how many of you who had twins needed premie/newborn clothes and how much? When my daughter was born (7lb 8oz) we ended up running out to get some newborn outfits after she came home. She only wore them for a few weeks and we only had a few. I am just wondering if I should stock up on premie.newborn clothes ahead of time this time around.

My twins were born at 37 weeks at 6lbs each and we wore NB for a good month or so (never did premmies, just started with Gerber NBs since those run super small).

This. We found that Gap NB ran on the small side as well.

Mine wore preemie size (obviously) in the hospital but they were already getting to big and long for preemie by the time they came home.  They were in NB for a good long while like 3-4 months?  They were over 5lbs when they came come home.  Definitely buy NB but I wouldn't spend or get too much preemie size until you know.  Preemie size runs really small and short.

Yeah the sizing can vary so different from brand to brand.  Gerber and Carter's tend to run small.

DD was only 4lbs 11oz at birth so we had to run out and get a few preemie outfits for her.  She didn't stay in the them long.  But, she is still on the small side and finally just grew out newborns a few weeks ago and is now in 0-3 months.  She seems to be long and thin - things stop fitting lengthwise but you could fit another baby inside the clothes!

DS was 6lbs 11 oz at birth and wore newborns for about a month, month and a half before doing 0-3 months.  He's now growing out of some 3 month stuff and is into 3-6 months.

Gerber definitely runs small.  I prefer it for DD because she is on the small side.  I got a bunch of clothes from family and there is a brand called First Moments - not sure where it's from - but they seem to run small-ish too.

My boys wore NB for two months.  They were 5 lb 9 oz and 4 lb 12 oz, but were too long for preemie (19" and 18 3/4").

My DDs were 5lbs14oz and 4lbs12oz when they were born.  They were definitely swimming in newborn clothes.  We got a few preemie outfits, but what we used a lot the first few weeks were 0-3 month gowns.  The size didn't matter much (we just rolled up the sleeves) and it made for easy diaper changes since you're doing a ton of them.  Looking back at pictures, it looks like they were in newborn clothes for a good 2-3 months.  It looks my larger DD wore a 0-3 month outfit for the first time when she was around two months old, but they still fit in newborn for quite a while longer.

Mine were born 5lbs 12 oz and 5 lbs 4 oz, but came home about a little under a pound less each.

They were in preemie for about 4 weeks.  In NB for 2 months.  We didn't start 0-3 until they were almost 3 months old.

We did a lot of Gerber NB too (we were given a bunch). Ours were born at 35w came home under 5 lbs and we only had 3 (hand me down) preemie outfits. It was fine; they outgrew them in length pretty fast.  They wore NB until about 10-12 weeks though.

Mine were in preemie for a couple of weeks and were 5'1 and 4'9 at birth. Just today we put them in 0-3 PJs, which are still kind of long but the newborn stuff is getting a little snug on them, length wise.
