My sister is going with a ski themed nursery ... as in downhill skiing. She wants this to be theme of the baby shower, so I'm now looking into where to get ski themed invites. I did a google search and an Etsy search, neither came up with anything. I am thinking that I'd have to get them designed ... but I have no idea where to start looking for someone to design them? Sigh.... I'm hoping you ladies will have some clever ideas (as always!)
Re: Where do you go to get unique invitations??
Are you computer savvy and a bit crafty? It is super easy to make your own. I used www.fontspace.com to get some neat texts, and Microsoft Word to make mine. It was super simple. You can also just copy pics off the internet, play around with the design tool bar and end up with a great invite.
If not, I did a quick search and found this blog.

They do wedding invites, but I'm sure they could do anything you wanted

To show you how easy it can be I was really bored and made this real quick

I am really curious about this - not only for these invites, but for work I might want in the future. I wonder how it works? I mean, what if I convo an Etsy seller, but I don't like the work. Then am I still obligated to buy it? Seems like it could get expensive and/or you'd end up with something that you aren't happy with?? Hhm.
I didn't know what was "allowed" either, and was really hoping for a personal recommendation, so thanks for letting me know about her shop name. I'm book marking it! :-)
I had never done this either, but I convo'd a seller whose designs I likes asking about an idea I had for a shirt for J's birthday. She emailed me back with a plan/picture for the design and asked for my approval. With her it seemed as if I could make requests for changes or even decline if I wanted.
Can't comment for everyone but SIL will draw something up and give you a few different prices depending on type of paper, envelopes, etc. You dont have to buy, and she'll change it up how you like as well. She only asks people not to DIY with her sketch.

How in the world did you do that? It looks sketched by hand. I would have never thought you could create something like that in Word...now I'm curious! What did you do for your invite?
I do graphic design work for websites and invitations like this and for clients I usually have them give me as much input as possible about what they want it to look like then I quote them a price that includes 3 revisions of my original design. So, I'll send them the first draft, they tell me what to change up to 3 times. Does that make sense? I bet a lot of these Etsy sellers do the same thing. It's fairly typical with graphic designers. Usually when they are done they'll send you the file and you have them printed anywhere from Walmart to Vistaprint.
I'm making LOs invites myself and having them printed through VistaPrint.
I did the same... they arrived yesterday and came out amazing!
