In labor- 28w

They don't lie when they say things can change in a minute with twins, do they?  On Tuesday my cervix was 4.3cm long and closed tight.  Today I was admitted due to what I that were frequent Braxton hicks contractions.  I'm 3cm dilated and 70% effaced.  I got the first round of steroids and am on magnesium.  Has anyone had this happen and managed to delay birth for at least a few weeks?  We're scared.

Happened to me at 26w. I was on mag for 3 days and then went home on bedrest with Nifedipine. I made it to 29w6d, and then I had to deliver, but not due to labor. I hope that you're able to keep baking awhile longer! Hang in there.

I haven't posted in AGES (since my twins were born), but wanted to tell you the same thing happened to me @ 28 weeks (2cm dilated and 80% effaced). I made it to 34.5 weeks w/ the help of mag. And my doctors did not keep me on bedrest...they did not think it would stop labor. Good luck!!!!!

I didn't have PTL, but my boys were born at 28 weeks.  I'm glad you are in the hospital getting the care you need and hope you can hold off for a few more weeks.  Sending good thoughts your way.

Just wanted to send best wishes! I went into PTL at 22w1d, and although I wasn't dilated, my cervix had shortened considerably. I spent the next 7 weeks or so on hospital bedrest, about 5 of them on mag, then was released to full bedrest at home. The meds I continued to take for PTL got us to 36w0d. Hopefully you will get some more baby baking in!

No experience, but glad you caught it and are getting the treatment you need.  Prayers that those babies stay put!

I posted on the other board, but hang in there J and S!!  I am glad your labor hasn't progressed, and I literally walked around for 3-4 weeks with my older kids 3cm dilated but still had to be induced, so hopefully they are that stubborn!

I have been in your situation but only pregnant with singletons.  The mag will hopefully stop all of the action that is going on, and the hospital may keep you there on bed rest or send you home on meds and bed rest.  I made it to 35 weeks and 37 with my last two pregnancies started cervical changes and PTL around week 25.  Good luck and hope those baby's stay in there to keep baking.

I went into PTL at 22wks5days and my cervix was at a 0.8 with funneling. They put me on Mag IV and on strict hospital bedrest (I could only lay on my sides, not my back and definitely no sitting up, not even to eat!). I managed to make it until 32wks1day with a 24/7 Mag IV going.

Good luck and I hope your LOs can stay cooking for many more weeks.

WOW, that was quick.  I'm SO sorry to hear that.  I'm sure that the meds will work and you'll continue to cook those babies.  My T's&P's will be with you and your sweet LO.  Please keep us posted!

I had PTL at 28weeks, and made it to 34 weeks before my water broke.  Good luck!!! I hope they get comfy for awhile!

I had preterm labor at 24 weeks and was 100% effaced and was 1 cm dialated.  I as on mag for 2 days and was sent home on bedrest and procardia every 6 hours around the clock - I had alarms set to wake me to take it.  I made it to my schedule C-section at 34 weeks. 

There is hope.  Hang in there!  One day at a time.

Sorry to respond late, I was also 3cm dilated and 70% effaced at 25 weeks when I went into labor. They put me in strict bedrest after a short hospital stay to stop the labor (mag) and procardia. I made it to 35 weeks. Good luck, hopefully they stay put for awhile longer!
