Would you wake LO up?

J's sleeping has been all mixed up for a few weeks. He is waking up earlier than usual and taking 2 very long naps during the day. His afternoon nap has been 2-2.5 hours which ends close to the 4:30pm mark. He goes to bed at 7:30pm and I'm wondering if this late nap is effecting his night time sleep since he has all of a sudden started waking at night again.

What would you do? Wake him earlier? Push bedtime later?

Re: Would you wake LO up?

  • 3 hours of wake time between the last nap and bedtime seems like a good amount actually. Can he do anything cool like pull up to stand? I've read some moms are having more issues with night wakings once they reach that stage.

  • Yes, he can pull to stand but he knows how to get down pretty easily. I'm hoping it is that, teething, anything! Glad to hear 3 hours is a good amount of awake time. I was wondering.
  • I agree with Hepcats - 3 hours is about N's limit for staying awake before needing a nap or going to bed.  Hopefully it's a milestone or teething and will pass quickly.

  • My DD sometimes gets up from a nap at 4 and goes to sleep at 6:15 so I don't think it is the nap time.  She did have a huge setback when she started teething and this led to some really bad habits.  She has since grown out of them so hopefully yours will too.  GL
