Did you tell your general practitioner about IVF?

I'm not cycling right now, but I went to my GP for antibiotics and had to fill out the standard form with a question about medications I'm on and it made me pause for a minute because I realized they had no clue about my IVF.

Since I'm not cycling until later this spring, I didn't say anything to the GP about IVF, but I think I might send the nurse a message to have it added to my chart. 

Did you tell your general practitioner (aka family doctor) that you were doing IVF?

I did not tell my PCP only because I didn't have an office visit during my cycle. However, if I had needed to make an appointment during our IVF cycle I would have told them.

I only told my PCP because I had visits while cycling.

Yes, but it was because I was in there for an allergic reaction to an antibiotic (I have lots of antibiotic allergies) and wanted to make sure the steroids he was going to put me on didn't impact my cycling.

I did, but only because my RE wanted me to get a PAP and I went to my primary care doc. I usually see her for everything. I don't have an OB yet. 

She didn't put anything in my chart about it though she was very excited. She'd been through IUIs so she asked a lot of questions about my RE, my labs and my protocol. We just had a nice conversation about it. She is convinced I will have twins and seemed a little sad that if I do get pregnant, I probably wont be back in her office for at least a year. She also offered me some referrals for great OBs she knows.

Yes, and she knows I am doing DE too. They do not get it at all. She seemed baffled that I would need DE since I still get a period every month. She was also baffled as to why I am going across the country to do it when I can do it right here.

I did as I have a multitude of issues and asked their opinion about different things throughout the process. I think that they should always know what is going on in your entire medical landscape.

Yes. I have been under treatments from a RE for a year and five months. I have seen my PCP a bunch of times during that year.

Not quite the same but yesterday I went to my Chiropractor and had to answer this question on a form to update my info. I said not, do not think that he needed to knowt that I am cycling. That said, if it was my PCP then I would definately have told him.

Yes mine knows. She even made a snarky comment that I should stop doing IVF since my last RE kicked me out unless I did DE. Whatever...

Yep. I spend a lot of time on medications related to infertility though and while I know the chances of something having issues with something else is minimal- my SIL is in school to be a nurse and has pounded her neurosis of bizarre drug interactions into me.

That said- I only update on my current medications unless I'm going to be on a drug long term. When I need something to get me over a cold and I'm just on BCP for another two weeks- I don't elaborate on what my stims are going to be. When I do go in during the more complicated part of my cycle- I go in with a wishlist of specific drugs I've already gotten approved by my RE. Everything goes through my RE first when I'm cycling.

That said, I went to the dentist last December and had to list out my current medications because they were deciding what kind of numbing or sedation to use. Mind you I was on a break but I was still on BCP, Prozac, low dose Aspirin, Prenatal, Fish oil, my asthma inhaler, an anti-anxiety med, and a claritin to knock back my allergies too. The dentist actually stopped and said worriedly that I was on an awful lot of medications... and I refrained from pointing out that this was what I considered a LOW number of daily pills

I remember when I considered it a good day if I remembered to eat a gummy multivitamin.

 Edit: I've found it useful to have a note card of all of my medication names- including the common doses of stims/estrace/progesterone- in my purse as a quick reference. I keep it next to my organ donor card and have CONTACT (My RE's name and number) FOR CURRENT DOSAGES and a little note that I'm undergoing repeated fertility cycling and that I could be pregnant at basically any time.

Not done IVF, but I have told my family doc because she put me on Metformin for my diabetes (two years ago) and I commented maybe that would help me get PG.  Ever since then, when I see her she asks how treatments are going and what we've done.  

Plus since I went in for my cortisone shot and the nurse asked of any new drugs in the last 30 days I had to list clomid, gonal F injects, trigger shot, etc. so it was talked about.

I did because I had to get the ok from my PCP and OB/GYN to go ahead with IVF because my medical conditions.

I did when I went in right after, just in case all the hormones I was on could have something to do with the cold I couldn't get rid of.  Otherwise, probably not (unless I had gone during IVF)  I would make sure your OB knows, but I wouldn't stress about it-just to be sure to update them on your next visit.
