Just passing through, wondering if anyone had any suggestions for something to give my son in lieu of baby aspirin after his shots? (I will check with pedi before doing this.)
At 2 months old, I wouldn't be comfortable giving anything. I would stay away from medications such as acetaminophen, etc. since they can mask some potential reactions to the shots. I BF my kids at that age so I nursed after the shots and now I just snuggle with them to comfort them but don't use any meds or herbal remedies before and after immunizations. I would suggest feeding and snuggling right after the shots GL!
We also didn't give anything to our baby, and yes, she hated the shots and cried very hard for about 10 minutes but then calmed down. It was a combined effort of soothing her, letting her nurse, and rocking that calmed her down. Then for the next 24-48 hours, we massaged her legs whenever we did a diaper change. At first we could tell that it was sore for her, but the massage helped her a lot. A day later and she was good to go.
Re: 2 Month Shots
I could be wrong, but I don't think you are supposed to give any kid/baby baby aspirin because of Rye's Symdrome.
I second the snuggling/nursing before and after. Really, my LO didn't even notice the shots the RN was so fast.
