in need of some good quick toddler bfast ideas

my old DC used to provide bfast so I really only had to worry about it on weekends...new one does not so I have sadly resorted to a lot of frozen pancakes/waffles, cheese toast & cereal/milk (plus fruit and cottage cheese or yogurt sometimes). I wish I had the time/motivation to make my own pancakes etc and freeze them but I just can't seem to muster it.  I do occasionally make muffins & freeze them for easy bfast and my kids like eggs but I tend to serve them more for lunches w/ spinach, etc mixed in although I guess I could do them at bfast sometimes too.

Any QUICK easy pre-daycare bfast ideas??? Thanks!

  • Sounds great. Get frozen whole wheat waffles and call it. The other thing I did was smoothies in a small mini food processor. Less clean up. A frozen banana, some yogurt and other fruit. Throw in a handful of nuts or raw oatmeal and process until smooth. If you do not add a lot of milk to thin it out, it will be like a soft serve ice cream (if you use the mini processor it is a little rough going but keep processing and it will smooth out) Add frozen or fresh fruit or a bit of cocoa.

Thanks.... I tried smoothies recently and neither would drink it. One sort of tried it (she is my good eater that tries everything) and the other was like NO! Iknow you're supposed to try 10 times or whatever, but ugh. I just did a basic yogurt, blueberries, and a little honey type thing. I could try banana. Banana & PB is another go to morning thing which is pretty good too. Maybe I'm not doing too badly. I just feel bad sticking Aunt Jemima in the toaster all the time ;). Actually Eggo lately b/c Aunt J had her recall & I used to get her whole grain pancakes all the time, hah!!! Maybe I'll switch to Kashi or another brand & feel better about myself. ;)

  • Do not stress. Sounds nutritious and delicious to me. I have to stop myself from eating the boy's Eggos! They love waffle sandwiches with strawberry cream cheese. I make some low sugar oatmeal cookies with flax seed and old fashioned oats. Or pumpkin cookies.

    - turkey sausage with fruit

We keep Kashi in business around here, their waffles are great.  DS eats them, their cereal, or their oatmeal on a regular basis.  And usually a piece of fruit with a cup of milk.   I would love for him to eat eggs or yogurt in the morning but he doesn't want to so this is our compromise.  Lots of fiber and protein in most Kashi products.

  • Oatmeal, English muffins, cinnamon toast, low-sugar cereals (Kix, etc.), cut up fruit, bananas, yogurt, or scrambled eggs are our usual go-tos.

  • We do frozen waffles, frozen French toast sticks, oatmeal. Every morning though he asks for cereal bar, yogurt and strawberries....his favorite meal

  • I don't cook/bake with the intention of freezing but on weekends I'll make muffins or pancakes and make extra to freeze.Pancakes, mini muffins, Trader Joes cereal bars, cinnamon toast...

  • I found some Greek yogurt popsicles at the grocery store which my boys about died for this am. They kept saying, "This is muscle food?" I got a dose of protein in them and 5 extra minutes to get dressed!
