If you have chargable/billable time and pump?

I am CPA and all my time must be either chargable or noncharagable with an emphasis on having as much chargable time as possible.  So my question is how do I find a way to make my pumping time productive.  I am in a cubicle, so I will not be sitting at my desk while pumping.  I have tried to think of some things I can do away from my computer and "save" to do during pump time.  Checking emails on my phone is the best thing I can come up with and that still seems a little impractical.  I am wondering if it will be better to just come into work early and then just relax during pumping.  I am just not sure what will work best as I have not returned to work yet.  Any suggestions will be appreciated!  Thanks!

  • I have no idea what CPA do on a daily basis - is there anything you can read?  I'm a lawyer, and once I got a hang of the pumping things I could answer emails or read a deposition transcript, pleading or something.  But I could pump in my own office, I didn't have to go elsewhere.

  • I was able to take my laptop to the pumping room and just keep working, but if I couldn't I would take documents to review, etc.  I am in benefits consulting and we do billable hours.  I usually have a stack of paper stuff I'm putting off reviewing.

  • I did similar to what PPs did. I'm in healthcare and if I couldn't pump somewhere there was a computer, I'd print out H&Ps to read while pumping and start my paperwork so that my evals went quicker. But honestly, my productivity wasn't great for the year I was pumping. No biggie, I'll do better this year.

  • get a hands free pump bra.  if you have to read stuff, print it out to bring with you.  i'm considering bringing a laptop to the lactation room at work if i can get work done that way.

This. I'm in advertising, and I always work straight through my pump sessions with a handsfree bra and my laptop because I bill by the quarter hour!

  • Just a thought... When I worked in public accounting I would print things to take places with me for review. So I would do that if I worked in a chargeable situation now. I also wouldn't worry so much about it. They know you just had a baby. If they value you and your work they'll be fine with a few hours a week. I also almost never took lunches.. it evens out.

  • I'm an attorney with a minimum billable hour requirement.  I have the Freestyle and would pump and work/read/research/whatever during my pumping sessions.  I would have lost over an hour (3 20 min. sessions plus set up) a day if I couldn't work and pump at the same time.  But I have my own office, a lock on my door, and a fridge under my desk so I could just do it in my office.  Any work you could read while you pump?
