WWYD-DH asking for time off for a trip (clicky)

We were planning a trip to Ireland for this June with DS. Recently the staff at DH's work is short handed and so we are worried about asking for the time off. This is a new job for him that he has only been at for 6 months. Plus he does not have enough time accrued so it will be without pay and we are only living on his income right now while Im on leave.  We have the money for the trip we are just hesitant about asking for time off. [Poll]

Re: WWYD-DH asking for time off for a trip (clicky)

  • I myself would not do it because even if we were saved up for the trip we would be short money from the time taken off.  I personally have never asked for a lot of time off within the first year at any job.  If I have something planned I normally will bring it up during an interview and make sure they are aware they are hiring me with plans already made.

If it was that DH and I were both working I would be quicker to ask for it off, but if it was just us depending on one income I would not want to risk our only source of income. Granted we also live in Florida and I don't know what it is called but they can fire you for any reason and they don't need to really give you one.

I suppose he knows how his boss is and what his job is like, it's best you two make that judgement based off of the feel of his job.

Thanks. Those are really good points. Man, I really wanted to go too. Hopefully the opportunity will come around again.
