Vitamins and prenatals

Been doing research on which prenatals I should take. Anyone taking vitamin code prenatals? I'm thinking of buying these along with Oceans Mom and Raw D for DHA and then vitamin D. Was thinking this would be a good combination to make sure my baby is healthy. Just found out I was pregnant yesterday. :) not sure if I need to take a calcium supplement also.. Can anyone recommend if I should? Or if my choices are on track with what I need to be doing. Haven't been able to do my first prenatal exam and not sure when I'll be able too. Any advice would help!

Re: Vitamins and prenatals

  • Right now, i'm taking brainstrong prenatal vitamins with the DHA in it. got it at target. it has one prenatal pill, and one DHA pill. it directs me to take both daily, and it's supposed to be really good for the baby.

its over the counter, and its temporary until i see my OB/GYN.

hopes this helps? sending good vibes your way and congrats!!!

  • I take CitraNatal Assure. They are precription only and I got samples from my RE. He let me try them first, and then my OB wrote the script. I like them because they are easy on your stomach +DHA!

  • I just bought the Rainbow Light Prenatals today at Target. I've heard wonderful things about it. I was taking Nature Made Prenatals with DHA, but it contains a lot of artificial colors like red 40 which is linked to ADHD in young children so that's why I bought the Rainbow Light.

I LOVE the Rainbow Light... they are the best :) They also have probiotics and whatnot, so I haven't had constipation/tummy issues while taking them.

  • I am taking One a day Prenatal vitamins with DHA and then my OB wanted me to take a calcium + Vitamin D supplement as well, so I'm taking both. I was getting tired of swallowing pills as I felt they were getting stuck at times so I'm taking a chewable calcium supplement. My OB said DHA may have an effect on brain development, but that it's usually pretty small an that there's really no difference, but I still want to take it anyway. I hope this helps!
