Ok... I have had 1 CS, 1 VBAC and trying for a 2VBAC.
Today, was my due date. I went in for NST and baby was not happy. Her HR was dropping, but not accelerating, so they sent me to L&D. Took them 7 hours to get a good reading. Doc was waiting and waiting and trying to decide whether to just take her. Finally, she looked perfect, textbook good... and after 3 full bags of fluid, I had continuously contracted every 5-7 minutes ALL day (8am to 7pm monitored).
So, doc doesn't want me contracting like that for too awful long before he is going to start talking C-section.
What's odd is that with my first two, I either had mild contractions that trailed off OR had horrendous contrax that finally got to 5 minutes apart. What I'm having today are mild, real feeling but not bad at all I can talk/walk/breathe through every one of them even though there is pain.... but doc says he isn't comfortable calling them BH... even though they did not change my cervix all day.
I go back at 8am for another NST and he either wants these contrax to have changed something and he'll consider breaking my water to get things going more OR talk Csection. He doesn't want mild 5-7 min contractions going on and on and on forever.
Ive never had this problem. What makes them stay SO steady, yet not increase in pain??!!! Confused to say the least!!!
Re: In early labor... question...
Thanks! I got sent home... contrax slowed. Going to get MOVING around here!
This sounds exactly like my labor with DS. I had very steady but not very effective contrax for almost 24 hrs before I even went to the hospital - then, I had to walk the ward for 2 hrs to get from 1cm to 4cm, and be admitted - and the contrax were not horrible -just barely intense. Then, after an epi, (which they suggested and I did knot know to refuse so early on), I stalled out again - extremely slow progress-- "turtle" contrax, until the pitocin - then a spike in them for a couple hrs - then again - stalled out, and had regular, weaker contrax. Finally ended up at 8.5, and had a c-sec after 26 more hrs.
Strange that on your 3rd this would be your pattern, tho. Hoping your labor picks up, and that you get your 2VBAC!!!
VERY strange to have this pattern on #3. Maybe she's showing a little personality?
I will admit, my first 2 labors were LONG... 40 & 38 hours. So, I am used to long labor, but I am used to starting around 15 min's more sporadic and then increasing from there. Never had 5 min contrax w/o awful pain.
Im going to think I was dehydrated and the contrax slowed as soon as I got calmed all the way down and asleep. At LEAST I am dialated a little and my cervix got soft with what was going on. I am favorable to at least make some change now. I've been trying to move more today and get her head moving on that cervix down there.
Praying for the real thing to start soon. With all the teasing I am MUCH more impatient now.. OOPS!
My labor stalled because LO's chin wasn't tucked, maybe that is why your body isn't progressing? I did one exercise on spinningbabies.com and did a heavy-footed backwards walk to get the baby's chin to tuck. Within 6 hours I had my baby. Good luck!
I was going to suggest that perhaps it might be related to baby's position as well which can make labor ineffective. GL I hope things pick up soon.
