Kaylee is probably the most common but I think it looks too cutesy with the -ee ending. I prefer Kailey or Kaileigh (yup, I break my own rule of hating -leigh endings for this name).
While I don't mind the "eigh" in some names, I don't like it here. I especially don't like it because without the "ay" or "ai", I would probably see Kaleigh and pronounce it Cal-lee. Same goes for Kalie.
I know two girls named Kali who are both in their teens. One's name is pronounced Kay-lee...the other is pronounced Cal-lee. Drives me bonkers. I always accidentally use the opposite pronunciation of their names when talking to them/about them.

I should mention, though, that I am ALWAYS having to tell people how to spell my name. Even as I'm saying "C", they are writing "K" on their paper. Drives me nuts, but I still prefer it spelled with a C. And the only big mispronunciation I ever got was a supply teacher in high school who called me "Claylight"
Of course, due to my MIL's terrible handwriting, I now have a certain subscription that comes addressed to "Cacowfeigh" every month. I'd change it, but it makes me giggle every time I open the mailbox.
Re: What is the best spelling for...
That was my feeling too. Thank you

Kaylie or Kailey.
Kaylee is just too cutesy, in my opinion.
