or family rules?
I have had some posted on our kitchen wall before but took them down because as the kids get older they change a little. Like, I don't need to say no hitting anymore like I did when dd was a toddler.
I am going to post them on the wall again since having problems with ds's attitude. He is a visual kid and does much better when things are clear and written out to remind him. he is also impulsive, so having them for him to see might help.
So I have things about respect and listening. But are things like picking up after yourself a "rule" or just something you remind them of when the moment is needed?
Give examples of what your house rules are please
Re: What are your "house rules"
Obviously my LO is very young, but I know many houses and classrooms that employ three respect rules that cover pretty much every situation.
Respect yourself
Respect others
Respect our things
You can get more specific by listing examples under each rule:
Respect yourself
-Take a bath each day
-Brush your teeth
-Wear your helmet while biking
Respect others
-Use kind words
-Follow directions
Respect our things
-Put toys away
-be polite
-clean up after yourself
-ask before going outside
-homework before computer/video games
-ask before taking junky snacks
Unless there is blood or fire, do not bother mom when she is cooking, on the phone or in the bathroom.
What? I think this is a pretty important rule.
