Sleep training for night but NOT for naps...

If you did this, why? And how do you put your LO down for naps? I need to do something, because my almost 7 month old is waking up around 8 times a night! I'm going crazy, and I need to get his sleep association problems solved. I have considered starting with sleep training for nights but not for naps- mostly because our days are kind of erratic and we do a lot of running around, are in the car a lot, etc. (Changing our schedule is not an option because of his older sister's schedule/ activities.)

Thoughts?

Re: Sleep training for night but NOT for naps...

  • We did this initially.  Did night sleep at 4 months and naps at 5 months -- mostly because we were having more trouble with nights and she was going down easy (asleep) for naps.  But by 5 months naps were also a struggle so we bit the bullet and did the sleep training for them too.  Prior to training we would swaddle DD, sing and bounce on a yoga ball which usually was pretty quick (compared to at night which could be up to 30 min).  Once she started daycare at 4 months they weren't doing that or swaddling so it made it a bit easier to do the training but also meant she was more used to going to sleep on her own.
