Dairy/Soy trial failed???

I've been dairy and soy free, son is EBF. He was experiencing mucousy stools, gas, and reflux as well as intermittent green stools. These symptoms all but seemed to disappear at 3 months old once I got my oversupply issues under control which left me confused, but yet excited to trial dairy and soy.

I was so excited that after introducing cheese back into my diet in the form of pizza (yum) my LO seemed to have no reaction. I waited a couple of days and had cheese on a sandwich, again poop seemed normal...he was not napping as well though, the next day I ate stirfry with some soy sauce...well all week he's been fussy and not taking naps well.

Is it related? Is he teething? I think it might be related as he now has some fine bumps to his face, tummy, and diaper area, and his bum crack is red...

Re: Dairy/Soy trial failed???

  • i'm not sure. i'm going to be trying soon too. i think i read somewhere that soemtimes they can tolerate cooked cheese but not uncooked so maybe he could tolerate the pizza but not the cheese sandwich? it's so annoying & confusing.
  • My guess is it is related.  I would eat clean for awhile and then try one thing and wait 3-5 days to see reaction.  Tummy discomfort would present with fussy/sleep issues. I probably wouldn't try anything new again for a couple weeks (after I was sure the first item, like cooked cheese, was all clear).  [1ht]
