qotd: I remind myself of both my parents. I tend to have high expectations and disciplinary (though not as harsh) reactions similar to my father.
Like my Mom, I tend to give into (especially for Peanut) needs and wants. If Little Man wants more milk I am quick to give it to him (even though he has had 12 ounces and breakfast is a half an hour away). Peanut has me wrapped around her finger and I cave to much of her wants.
QOTD: I don't remind myself of either of my parents, and trust me when I tell you you should be calling CPS if I did. I didn't have much in the way of an example of how to parent - at least not at home. I think I have pretty good instincts, though, and I'm thankful for that.
ATP: J is growing SO FAST! He just started using different words for me and K - I'm Mama and K is Nuh-nie. I think it's funny that he can say the M sound in Mama but not in Mummy. He has been using so many new words every day - this week brought "hungry," "dirty," and "casca" (peel, in Portuguese), among others. He's big into hugging and snuggling - all while saying, "Mama!" or "Nuh-nie" repeatedly (depending on which of us is getting the hug, of course. I have to say I struggle to leave the house some mornings because I just want to be with him.
PCP: Jury's still out on number 2. Maybe when J is in school - I can't see how we could swing childcare x2. *sigh*
Good week. We joined a new playgroup--sponsored by the Rec dept. It's a drop in, Tues & Thurs mornings. So far, the moms don't live nearby which is a bummer for me. A big reason I joined this group, as opposed to another one a friend goes to is because I wanted to make more 'nearby' friends. We will try it for 6 weeks or so, and re-evaluate.
QOTD: If you met my parents, you'd laugh. Um, yeah. Can't go anywhere without someone commenting on similarities between my mom and I. Since becoming a parent, I've noticed more similarities between my dad and I. Similar roll-your-eye corny humor. Opinions on what kids should wear. What's important. I'm glad I have more of his laid-back personality than I anticipated.
Well....today brought a big change in the gameplan for us. I took the girls to their visit with mom and asked her if Owl's case had been transferred (transfer hearing was Monday) and she said yes that both girl's are now on the same case. She mentioned that the next hearing is in April and I asked if that's when her lawyer planned to get the girls moved to the Aunt's house, "well, I wanted to talk to you about that... I don't think she is going to be responsible for them so is it okay if they stay with you?" WHAT?!?!?! Yes, of course they can stay! I spoke to the CW and she is going to get a statement from mom at the next hearing and present it to the judge to try to keep the girls with us. I am excited at this turn of events and hopeful that the girls will stay but it's in the back of my mind that they could still leave.
Hopefully I will have Owl's new insurance by next week so we can get her started on the services she needs, she needs a lot right now.
Besides today's exciting news, everything is a-ok here, normal as ever. We did turn down 2 adoptive placements yesterday, they weren't a good fit.
QOTD: I see a lot of my Dad in me, the silly, eye-rolling, goofball. I am also strict like my Dad and can yell like him.
IUI #6 was this morning! I have been pretty pessimistic about TTC lately but I could not help but be a bit cheered that the total motile count for this vial was almost double last month's. I ovulated late so had more b/w appointments than usual (I've been at the RE's office 5 of the last 6 business days) and I am just tired and glad to have a break for 2 weeks.
Married my wife 8/2007 ~ TTC #1 since 7/2011 9 IUIs = 9 BFNs IVF October 2012: 22 eggs retrieved, 17 fertilized, 5 frozen ET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Blighted ovum discovered at 7w5d; D&E FET #1: 1 blast = BFP; Missed m/c discovered at 9w5d; D&E Karyotyping: normal ~ RPL Testing: normal ~ Hysteroscopy: normal FET #2: 1 blast transferred 10/25; BFP 10/31! EDD 7/13/14 ~ Induced at 37w4d due to pre-eclampsia ~ Born on 6/28/14 *Everyone welcome*
