Daycare drop off problem...HELP!

For the last 2 weeks or so DD has been having anxiety with me leaving. Normally she runs to our provider for hugs and to be placed in a chair for breakfast. Now there are tears and we basically have to peel her off me.

Usually I try and make it a quick drop off regardless if she is being clingy or not, but I can't help but feel bad (usually I just give her a kiss and say momma and daddy love you and let our provider take her). I know that with speaking with our provider she is usually not crying by the time I pull out the driveway. We have been using our in home provider since DD was 6 weeks so and now she is almost 2 1/2 so she is familiar with her provider.

Any advice or is this too just a phase? Sure makes me feel guilty.

  • Just a phase. They always tell us too that when Abby was going through this that out of sight out of mind was so true. Also, I realized that when my daughter could articulate that mommy and daddy go to work, her anxiety got better because she started to understand that we would be coming back to get her. It gets better. Promise

  • Phase! DS goes in and out of them. He's almost 4. Right now we're going through the "one last hug" phase- he needs about 7 before he will voluntarily peel off my legs.
