weird squealing/wheezing noise?

i'm just wondering if anyone else has a baby who makes this noise.  my boys have done this for awhile but i just noticed it more tonight and was concerned.  i think it's more after they eat and when falling asleep they make a wheeze/squealing noise at times when they inhale. i'm not sure how to describe it, kind of like their throat is tight. then they go back to breathing normally.   i know they are ok and it's not something new, but it worried me more tonight for some reason. they were premature and had some issues breathing early on but by 2 months i'd think they would have it figured out!  i think the md may have mentioned something like this related to reflux..but i'm not sure.

Re: weird squealing/wheezing noise?

  • My son does this and was diagnosed with reflux and laryngomalacia.  Although he wasn't a premie, according to the Ears, Nose and Throat specialist we went to laryngomalacia is more common in premies.  (Llaryngomalacia is basically when the larynx hasn't completely matured and is floppy which creates the wheezing/squeaky sound, especially after eating.)  He is currently on Prilosec.

  • My son did this last month. It made me really worried since I have asthma and when I was a baby my breathing would stop in the middle of the night. I took him to the hospital and found out he had RSV. To adults RSV is like a common cold, but its more serious for babies. It wouldnt hurt to get them checked out. If it is nothing then at least you put your mind at ease.
  • My lg had a wheezing sound dr said normal but not wheezing it's noise from mistral he said real wheezes is accompanied w labored breathing
