Aw someone passhimafucking cookie...now I can call DH and tell him don't worry dear... Obama can't take his kids trick or treating either. Let alone half the women on the parenting board....

 

and now I will take the kids by myself for 4 hours of uninterrupted toddler/trick or treat/fun time.

It doesn't sound like he's really complaining to me--they asked, he answered, and joked about it.  I don't think he's begging for sympathy or anything!

Waaaaahhhhh. I'm about to take my kids TOTing by myself, because like everything else in life, DH's job requires him to miss these moments. It's sad, sure...but part of life.

I'm not a big Obama fan (obviously) but I bet its hard when you want your kids have to have a normal existance and they can't because of his celebrity status.   It doesn't sounds like he is pissy....

I think pin is saying it is not a big deal - happens every day to every regular American and all the posts of, aw that's so sad are just dumb.

But I could be wrong.  I think it's not a flame of Obama...but of the posters being all "awwww, poor guy!  Poor kids! how sweet!"  Like they have no idea of the reality of being a parent - often times one parent has to miss ToTing for a variety of reasons.

Am I right?  Do I get a cookie??!?!

 Yeah, I don't think they quite get it yet. I can see why it seems sad to people, but hardly worth some of the attention I've seen over it (not just on here, a huge post about it on another board making him a martyr).

But what I love most is ElizabethD's response about knowing that he and Michelle are intentional parents and will do a great job...blah, blah, blah....because she knows them and all and knows how they parent. 

What's also funny is how everyone's ripped Sarah Palin a new one because she has young kids and why in the world would she intentionally expose them to everything that goes along with campaigning and possibly holding office as VP?......but NOTHING about Obama and Michelle's young kids and the scrutiny they will be exposed to if and when.

Couldn't have said it better myself Bellisimo.  Why is it ok for Obama, but not for Palin to have their kids in the the limelight?  It's part of the job.
