I think it is beautiful, but I like older names. We considered it with DD, but it was around that same time Tori and Dean were having their Stella and it got very popular.

I like it. It was on my list, but I got talked out of it by people who kept saying Stelllaaa in a Sylvester Stallone voice (Stella from the rocky movies)

I thought it was "Adriaaaan" in "Rocky"---- I think "Stellaaaa" is from "A Streetcar Named Desire". Anyway, sorry...off topic. ;-) Stella is not my style, but I think it's a cute enough name!

Yes.......it's:
"Yo Adriaaaan!!!" for Rocky
"Hey Stelllaaaa!!!" for Streetcar Named Desire
and "Elaaaine!!!" at the end of The Graduate
Maybe if we end up with 3 girls we could name them Stella, Adrian & Elaine for the Trifecta of Movie reference Shout Outs.......lol!!!
I don't care for it at all. It's just too short and harsh to my ears.
I pretty much agree with this. I also think it sounds too little girlish and I dislike the whole blatant star association - it just seems so princess. Sorry, really not a fan and I don't get the love it has on this board.
My best friend just named her daughter Stella last year, it's after her grandmother and she's wanted to use the name since she was a little girl. the name is so gorgeous and suits her perfectly. I'm a nanny and see tons of babies and children every week at various activities, and I've never met another Stella.

I love Stella, but I'm a huge Tennesee Walker fan and I think Streetcar is one of the best plays/movies ever.
Many posters here don't like it because it's getting pretty popular, but I love the name and I love a good literary connection.

It's boring.

I think it's beautiful and classic, far from boring!!
Since you're a huge fan, of course you know it's Tennessee Williams.
I love the name, but I already used it on my cat.
