Additional Testing? (warning - pic in siggy)

Hi -

I'm usually on the Adoption board, and occassionally on SAIF.  It's been about 3 years since I last pursued treatments and I have 3 embies on ice I want to use this year so I can close the door on treatments.  However, I want to give them the best chance possible.

My history: me unexplained, DH is perfect.  Testing done - SA, HSG, SHG, Day 3 bloods.  Been off BCPs since we got Married in May 2006.

3 cycles of clomid - unresponsive, 2 IUI/injectibles - BFN, 2 fresh IVFs - BFN, 1 FET - BFN.  NEVER had a positive pregnancy test.

So what else should I ask for as far as testing?  Have there been any advances for people who seem to not be able to support implantation?

TIA ladies!

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • i was unable to support implantation of embryos.  i had a whole immunological work up.  i would maybe look into that next.

  • Yes - immunology testing looks at this. It's very expensive for the bloodwork (around $1300) but it will give your doctor the most information. I don't know all of the doctors that specialize in IVF and immunology but mine is one - Dr. Zouves in Foster City, CA. I believe there is one called Dr. Sher on the East Coast but check that on google. Many doctors do not buy the Immunology approach but others embrace it wholeheartedly.

    Good luck with your research.

  • Your situation sounds a little similar to mine.  We just had an FET after three years without treatment.  We adopted our daughter last year.  You may want to request having a blood clotting disorder ruled out and I know some have been tested for natural killer cells both of which there are treatment for.  I know progesterone support is helpful for implantation.  My RE put me on one PIO daily and Crinone suppositories 2x daily this cycle in hopes that it will help.  Best wishes to you!

  • I agree that immune and thrombophilia testing would be the next step.
  • Thanks ladies! Looks like I have a direction to check out now :)
