Anyone else experience this or should I be blaming her age? DD has totally lost her 2-3 hour nap in the last week and today stripped naked during "quiet time" in the crib which she has never done before. She has started running from me in public in the last week or two, which she has always been too timid to do, and has started sitting down in the middle of parking lots if she doesn't want to leave some place. I feel like we worked so hard the last 8 months to get her sleep regulated and getting her used to walking holding hands, etc, and it's all being undone in a matter of weeks!
Re: #1 acting out close to due date
the closer children are to becoming two, the more independent they become. My daughter has been stripping herself down too. It's more of a happy that she's figured out how to remove the clothing on her own than it is behaving badly.
I swear, that 18 month - 3 year period is like having a rebellious teenager.
Your LO is right on target with skipping naps, running off, and streaking!! My daughter has been really hard to manage the past couple of weeks as well. She keeps punching my stomach when my DH rubs it or speaks to it. I'm afraid she's going to have my newborn in a full nelson!! lol
DD has never NOT been like this. Her nap is usually max one hour and she takes forever to get to sleep. She's down for 11ish hours straight at night but I'm dead during the day from her wake up time (before 6am, usually) and virtually no break from her during the day. She's NEVER been agreeable to hand-holding and NEVER listens when i call her name as she runs off to go home with some other family in the store.
I'm terrified...
Sorry, no advice, just compassion and empathy from me.
This is so true, though it has started for us at 17 months.
OP, I'm going to attribute it to age. DD is doing the same thing all of a sudden. We are re-training her for naps ... she puked Saturday and Sunday when we tried to put her down. Fun stuff.
