2nd Trimester

2 things...

This girl on Facebook announced the baby's gender by marking his sonogram to say "my little man's meat...lol" I usually have a twisted/weird sense of humor but this just creeps/grosses me out.Anyway, tomorrow we are going in to possibly find the baby's gender. I have ZERO desire to find out but my husband is dying to know. He "says" it's my decision but then when I talk about names or nursery ideas he makes comments he says "I really can't get excited about that without knowing the gender". I keep saying "can't you just be excited about having a baby?" I don't know. I want us to enjoy this pregnancy together not have him resent me or not be excited...Thoughts...ideas?

  • Whether you find out the gender is your husband's decision too. If he wants to find out, I don't think it's fair for you to keep that information from him. Imagine if you wanted to find out and he was keeping you in the dark?

It's harder for men to get excited about a pregnancy because they're not going through any physical changes - knowing the gender could help him feel like everything is more real.

  • Yes, I think talking about a fetus? ?man-meat? is a little?. I don?t know. I don?t like it. Haha

As far as finding out gender,  can the tech just write it down and show your husband without you knowing? That way he can be excited and you can be surprised?

I completely see your side, since we are Team Green.  It seems like a lot of people here say they feel much more connected to the baby once they know the gender, so maybe it will help your husband.  If he knew the gender, would he still be willing to do the theme and all in ?gender neutral colors??

  • I know the feeling. I have always said that I dont want to find out the gender of any of my kids because I want to be surprised but DH has wanted to know from the day we found out. With the him knowing me not knowing situation - I would make him tell me because Im too nosy to wait lol

BUT DH has let me pick the names with no fight, pick out all the nursery stuff with no fight and has been so super supportive and finding out the gender is the ONLY thing he has been really adamant about so I decided we would find out. Im not 100% ok with it but seeing how excited he is about makes me feel better about it.
