Crock Pot Help!!!

I put corned beef, carrots, and red bliss potatoes in the crock pot this morning at 6:00 for dinner between 5:00 and 6:00 tonight.  My son decided to shut the crock pot off!  I noticed it was off and turned it back on.  I don't know how long the crock pot was off for.  So if the meat and vegetables are not done by 6:00 what can I do?  I really don't want to eat later than 6:00.  Should I put the food in the oven or boil it?  Is there another option I am not thinking of (besides eating supper at 7:00 or 8:00)?  Thank you so much!

Re: Crock Pot Help!!!

  • Yes, the oven works quite well, and much faster. But for corned beef, I would put all of those in a pot with water on the stove (wait till the end for the potatoes) - also much faster than a crock pot.

  • Based on your cooking length, I am guessing you are cooking on low. Cook on high for about 2 hours in the middle will catch the time up.  You can also boil the meat for a little and put it back in the pot.

  • Thank you both for your help!  I turned up the heat to high for a while.  I also put it in the oven just to be safe.  It turned out great. :)
