The hardest thing for me since being pregnant all winter hasn't been the fatigue, or the aches and pains, or the no alcohol, or even the no brie cheese which i love... it has been not being able to go tanning! I know its not good for you anyway (i'm not looking to be lectured here), but I love being tan it just makes me feel good. I'm sooo excited for the warm weather coming and being able to lay out and get tan and feel good about myself again! So anyway my silly question is how am I going to tan my back when I'm laying out if I can't lay on my stomach?! Anybody know any good lawn chairs that would be comfy?
Re: dumb question
I have another dumb question.
Ok I am not trying to be rude. But, why do people even tan? I am a brown skin African American so of course I dont need to and honestly I never heard of tanning until I was on my own and started working. (went to an all black school from k2-12th grade) So, I never understood it. Isnt sitting in the sun like that bad for your skin anyway...or is it just the tanning beds that are bad?
That's all I can think of - but just a warning - I've read that a lot of pregnant women will get a rash if they're in the sun too much!
Hmm, maybe sitting backwards in a chair, sort of straddling it?
People choose to tan for many reasons. It can even out skin tone and give you a glow, and some people just find the warmth comforting.
It's a vice akin with drinking, smoking, caffeine, and junk food, and bad reality television, so unless you don't do any of those things, don't judge! And even so, keep it to yourself
But yeah, you might want to maybe just try laying out for 20 minutes at first to see what it does to your skin. Your skin is going to be super super sensitive now, and you could break out into all kinds of non-fun rashes, or burn super-quick.
That's my best advice; I don't tan because if I even think about the sun my pale skin bacons
I hit the post button by mistake. I was trying to say I like your answer...and thanks for answering my dumb question as well. I was just wondering what it was all about. I pass tanning salons all the time. Now I get it. I wasn't judging the original poster just trying to get a clear understanding....I hope she takes your advice because us pregnant ladies already have a lot going on and a rash will def not be fun.
Exactly! I've never been a big drinker, i eat healthy, but tanning is my one thing. It makes me feel good and happy when I'm relaxing in the sun, plus the Vitamin D and Endorphins ARE good for you. Not to mentioned all clothes look better with a tan- tank tops, sun dresses, evening dresses, etc. Course I know like everything else, too much can sun can be bad. Everything in moderation!
I'm with ya! I never realized how WHITE I was until this winter! I was actually able to get a pretty great tan on my front side this week, and I came up with an OK position for back tanning but it wasn't the most comfortable ever and looks weird so it's probably better to do in your backyard than at the beach...
BACK TANNING 202:
So I brought outside 2 pillows, a roll style and a regular one and I laid the regular one on the chair so the very top of my thighs/up to where my belly starts sticking out was resting on it, and then I would either support my upper body on my elbows or use the roll pillow kind of under my boobs, so basically I am being supported by pillows both under and above my belly, and they make a little groove for it to sit down in. That was so hard to explain that I bet the tanning haters on here will just be laughing at how ridiculous we are! Oh well! I got my Vitamin D and I feel great!! Good luck to ya
Some of us fair girls look mighty unhealthy after a full winter of no sun. Like pasty sickly - "Walking Dead" white looking. Ever see the movie "ET the extraterrestrial" ? - I look like ET when he gets sick by April in Canada.
hahah i love this!!! I am def gonna try that tomorrow. Thanks!!
