questions to ask the hospital

I switched doctors so that I could deliver at the local womens hospital/birth center. I love the new doc but was informed that they dont deliver the babies anymore! they have 4 hospitalists at the birth center that deliver the babies 24/7. I have decided to schedule a tour of the hospital asap to see if this is something that I want to do... if not I will switch to a mid-wife group that delivers at this location.

I want a natural birth! I'm not even nervous about the pain, I'm nervous about going to the damn hospital and being at the mercy of whoever is on duty. I wish that I could just pay the cost of a mid-wife to deliver my baby at home but I cant afford it. Any useful questions that I could ask the hospital about these ob's that will deliver my baby (but I've never met)?  The NP at the new practice was very open to what I wanted and seemed confident that I would not have any issues... but now Im a little nervous. This is a brand new things that they are doing so I dont know anyone why has dealt with this

ask them re number of c sections vs natural birth, do they have experience with NB. what do they do to promote  NB? birthing & labouring positions. the attitude u get when u ask thosecquestions will prob tell u a lot about the likelihood of success. otherwise  u have the birth center...

Questions I asked were about whether or not patients were allowed to eat in labor (may be doc specific but the L&D nurses will probably know), agreeability to a hep-lock instead of an IV if necessary, are there supplies there to assist natural birth (my hospital keeps birthing balls and all rooms have tubs).
