Fenugreek and pumping

I am not getting as much as I want to with pumping at work, so I bought some fenugreek to take. It is the liquid kind, in alcohol. Question - on the label it says not to use while breastfeeding. Do you think that is because of the alcohol like they have to put that on there? The ingredients are just fenugreek and the alcohol solution, so I can't see what is different about that from the capsules. Anyone have any insight? Also, did fenugreek work for you? thanks!

Fenugreek worked great for me.  I took the pills though.  The pill bottle had the same warning on it.  I forget why, but it's ok.  Not sure about the alcohol.  Can you get the pills?

I took the pills and they had the same warning. It is a very well known fact Fenugreek can help with milk production so I wouldn't worry. It absolutely worked for me, but I was taking 2 pills 3 times a day (if I recall correctly).

It worked for me, but gave me an unpleasant side effect.  It can give you loose BMs and because of that multiple times a day I ended up with internal hemmeroids.  Good luck and I hope you don't experience the same thing.  I got a prescription from our LC that eled increase milk supply more than the fenugreek.  Good luck! :-)

 I took it in pill form. Worked great to boost my supply. I started with 1 three times a day and then increased until I started to smell like maple syrup. Once you start to smell that's when you know you are taking enough. I am assuming its the same for the liquid form as well. 

 As for the warning label, I can't remember if the pills had it. Maybe you can give your doctor a call?

Thanks ladies. I'm really bad at swallowing pills, so I don't think I could do the capsules, that's why I got the liquid. It tastes horrible but better than trying to take the capsules.  I did try opening the capsules and pouring the contents into some water to drink and that was even worse tasting than the liquid! Honestly the grossest thing I've ever tasted.  But it will be worth it if it works!

the only thing i can say is watch your baby closely....i started taking the pills and after 3 days she started to spit up A LOT...sometimes full vomiting and i couldnt figure out why until i saw that some babys have a reaction to the fenugreek...so i stopped taking it and she got better...just an fyi!

It's not done much for me.  Of course I don't know how bad off I'd be now without it.  I have the pills and they also say do not take while pregnant or nursing.  Someone once suggested I read the label wrong, that it said not to take while pregnant, but nursing is on there too.
