WTF?!

So I am the head teller at a community bank. Our service standards are very high and we try to have the best customer service in town. Anyway I get called in to my manager's office because there was a complaint about me, the customer wished to remain nameless but they said that I wasn't "warm and fuzzy" I would bet $100 that they asked me questions about being pregnant that I didn't want to answer. Do people seriously expect their bank tellers to be 'warm and fuzzy'? I am polite but there is not a context where I am ever very warm and fuzzy.

  • I worked in banking for almost 4 years. And when I got a bad review we could pretty much guess which customer it was. All we had to do was think about the last few grouchy customers who were mad about NSF fees and we chalked it up to that. Dont worry, "warm and fuzzy" now that is just too funny. My DH is in banking I will tell him tonight he needs to be more "warm and fuzzy with the customers!" :)

  • That sucks!! Nosey people!
  • Wow....that customer is a bit extreme!  How "warm & fuzzy" can they expect you to be at 30+ weeks pg???

To tell you the truth I don't think I ever remember feeling "warm & fuzzy" at all.  Isn't being "friendly" enough.  Did the customer expect you to jump over the counter and give him/her a huge hug, slap his/her butt, and say "Gee, isn't it a swell day today?".....????  Pa-leeeezzzzz

  • I can't believe you actually got called into the managers office!

  • Wow...I can't believe your manager actually called you in for that!  Warm and Fuzzy??  I would have asked if the manager expected me to hand out hot chocolate while wearing a bear suit.

Hey, where can I find a bank that does this? The girls at our bank are fresh-out-of-community-college snots that OPENLY discuss how drunk they were the night before. I want a bear to give me hot cocoa, dammit!

  • Well we do serve cookies and coffee and apparently me offering them the coffee isn't enough. was told that I really should make the coffee for them. Ugh. I will just be glad when I can go on maternity leave for a while.
  • That sucks.   I feel your pain though.  I am a customer service manager in a grocery store and before I went on maternity leave it was getting so frustrating always having to be nice to people and some of them no matter how nice and polite you were they were still ass holes
