I posted about this the other day... LO is now taking it due to the fact that he has the hardest time pooping. Its not every once in a while, its EVERYDAY. He strains and strains... He sometimes strains for almost 20-30 minutes. Sometimes he will strain for 10-15 minutes, stop trying, and all over again later on. Sometimes it can take him all day trying to poop... Its so pitiful!
Anyways, I asked if anyone had any ways of getting medicine into baby's system because he will not take it out of the bottle as the Dr. told us to do... I am told to mix it in juice, which I do. LO isn't big on juice, so I knew this medicine was going to be a challenge.
I've been giving it to him with a syringe and its still a battle to get it in, takes 5-8 fills of the syringe to do it depending on size of syringe and half the time he spits alot out! My question is, can I do miralax in his formula or something different? This isn't cutting it and I almost want to give up trying!
Re: Miralax question
When you said you were putting it in his bottle I thought you meant you were putting it in his formula. What did you dissolve it in, water?
Our pedi said to use water and give it to Parker that way, but she was two when she needed it and was drinking water regularly anyway. I have seen others post on here that they've put it in milk or juice so I think it's safe to give it to him in his formula.
Call the doctor just to double check, though.
Is he on formula or breastmilk in a bottle? You can mix it with either. My LO gets hers mixed in milk in the morning. It is the only drink I can be assured her twin will not get ahold of and drink before her. They both are not quite awake first thing in the morning, so they just plop on the couch and drink their milk will watching cartoons while they wake, her twin doesn't even think of taking her milk from her first thing in the morning. Her twin is on the opposite end of the spectrum, she goes poop 3 times a day just with regular diet, do not want her getting her hands on Miralax.
