I feel like we give DD the same foods over and over, and I want to try giving her different things. She's getting more frustrated with purees but loves to feed herself, so any specific finger food suggestions would be great - especially breakfast.
Also question regarding fruits....do you still steam stuff like apples and pears, or give LO small chunks of it raw? What about blueberries, do you take the skin off? Also, do you give LO 'squishy' foods? DD seems to have a hard time picking up chunks of banana/avocado, etc.
Thanks!

Re: Finger Foods?
I steam very little right now unless it's meant to be steamed. It's just faster and easier and it's important to me LO likes food in it's "Regular" (for lack of a better term) form.
Except for apples..they're a bit hard for yet.
I do a lot of squishy foods actually. She's not great at grasping them always and it makes a huge mess but it's good practice.
I've been giving her bits of what we have for dinner lately in separate form. For example the other night we had spaghetti so I did the noodles (cut up), a bit of hamburger and a couple diced tomatoes (I don't know if they're good for babies but she loves them) on her tray.
I let the pears get very ripe, then give them to him. If I can squish it between my fingers, I feel comfortable giving it to him. I know a lot of people are against this, but DS LOVES strawberries. I found chunks of frozen veggies at the store, there is a butternut squash one that he loves, I put it in a little water, microwave for 30 secs and it gets really soft.
Non-fruit/veggies: lunch meat, sliced cheese, pita w/hummus, pasta (cut up really small, it was getting stuck to the inside of his mouth)
My LO loves berries too!
I am by no means the food police however. Nor am the worry police. But there also ins't a strong history of allergies anywhere in our family so it's easier for me.
