lactulose for constipation?

anyone use this ? our boys are starting to have more formed stools a going less since needing to use rice cereal to thicken their bottles for reflux. the md said we could start lactulose twice a day? i just hate to give them yet another med..

We are using it for DS for constipation, he was having server acid reflux so between meds and formula changes we got behind on pooping then adding the rice to his bottles made it 100 times worse Nd we are on day 7 with no real poop just starting to get some out when he passes gas.
