I rarely post anymore (and haven't at all on the tri or bm boards), but we find out what nugget #2 is tomorrow and I'm trying to think of a cute way to tell our parents. With DD we tried having it spelled out in pepperoni on a pizza, but it was illegible and we ended up just having to blurt it out. This go around, we are actually going to a pizzeria again (Bertucci's- if that makes a difference). It's NOT a party- just our parents/siblings (so it's not a big affair, just 7 of us).
All of my ideas are generally dessert (a cake that spells it out or cookies, or fortune cookies) but my DH says he feels bad making everyone sit through lunch before telling them. He wants to try the pizza again (I'm skeptical). My ONLY other thought that doesn't involve waiting is bringing food coloring and having the waiter or waitress bring over "complimentary champagne" and have it be pink or blue (so basically the waiter tells them LOL). Thoughts? TIA!
PS- apologies as I know this is discussed often
Re: Revealing the sex of the baby...
With DH and I, since we're so far away from all of our family we did a cute text message. It couldn't be super elaborate so I bought two onsies (one for each of course), put them next to each other with their ultrasound pictures and just wrote...we're having...and then let them figure it out from the colors of the onesies.
Everyone thought it was pretty cute. Of course they all wanted us to just call them but since we couldn't keep the fact we were pregnant a secret (because of the IVF), I wanted to do this in a cute way.
I like the champagne idea, too! Do they know you're getting together to tell them the sex, or do they think it's just a normal dinner and the gender reveal will be a surprise? If a surprise, I think it's fine to wait until dessert (if you can stand it!). I think some of the gender reveal cakes are super cute!
I haven't told my family when we're having our big ultrasound, but we're getting together with our parents and my siblings (8 people total) to celebrate my birthday shortly after we find out the gender. I am going to get a local bakery to make a small cake, and tint the filling inside either pink or blue. I'm thinking about the cake below, with pink and blue polka dots, and the tag will say "It's a..."
Have fun with whatever you decide!

Cautiously expecting our second little petri dish baby - stick, Baby, stick!
Thanks!! They know why we are having the lunch
They're all very excited so they are itching to find out almost as much as we are. I'm thinking we'll probably go with the champagne to keep it low-key and simple - thanks for all the thoughts!
My mom is taking me to my appt this afternoon to find out who we're having, so she'll know right away and call my dad. (Hubby has to work and may be late) For my MIL, I plan on just sending her a text that says you grandson/daughter says hello.. she's in HI, I'm in IL.. so no big 'fun' plans for us..
