2 schools at once?

hi everyone,

i've not posted on this board before but i am just looking at preschools for my LO and wanted some advice.  she currently goes to a school i teach at, 5 days a week from 9-3.  we are moving this summer so i am scouting at schools for next year.  i found a school i really like but it is only 2-3 days a week from 9-12.  as i am expecting a baby in Sept, i really want LO to be at school, engaged with other kids (and not getting bored around a newborn), longer than 9 hours a week.

there is another school i like that does offer 5 days, 9-2--so i was thinking of doing M-W-F at one and T-Th at the other, to get her more school time (and me more time solo with baby.  does anyone have experience with sending LO to 2 schools at once?

i should add--it doesn't seem as weird to me as many of the kids i teach do this.  however, i teach at a language immersion school, so a lot of the parents have their kids go half the time to our school, half the time to an English-speaking school.  but i just don't know if that's considered a little unusual or not.  thoughts?  tia!

Re: 2 schools at once?

  • Why not just do m-f at the one school?
  • because i really like the community, philosophy and structure of the M-W-F school . . . i'd love for LO to be a part of it.  oh well.

  • DS is in "2 preschools"  He goes to speech at the local elementry school 2 times a week and to preschool 3 days.  He needs speech therapy and so it is what has to be done.  He seems okay with it - though he ask every morning what school he is going to.  He likes speech better but has fun at preschool too.

  • DD's first year of preschool, which she started right before she turned three, she did M/W at one preschool and T/Th at another.  She could have done the first M-Th but I really liked both of them.  She didn't have any problems going to two schools, but she is generally pretty adaptable.
